Terms and Conditions for Renting Vehicles from USave Rentals
Driver's Licence
All drivers must have a current full licence and be aged 20 years and over. A current overseas licence is acceptable, if written in English, otherwise we require a current International Driver's Permit.
Rental Duration
24 hours from time of pick-up. Additional time is charged at 1/5th of the daily rate per hour extended.
Tax
The New Zealand government's Goods and Services Tax (gst) of 15% is included in all fixed daily rates.
Insurance
Comprehensive insurance is provided free of charge with an excess (deductible) applicable as follows:
Cars and Station Wagons
- Insurance excess for all drivers over 20 years: NZ $1,000+GST
- Collision Damage Waiver NZ $12.00 per day for NZ$0 excess
- Collision Damage Waiver NZ $15.00 per day for NZ$0 excess (hires less than 4 days)
People Movers (MPVs), 4WD and 4WD Station Wagons
- Insurance excess for all drivers over 20 years: NZ $1,500+GST
- Collision Damage Waiver NZ $15.00 per day for NZ$0 excess
- Collision Damage Waiver NZ $20.00 per day for NZ$0 excess (hires less than 4 days)
Vans, 10 Seater Minibuses and Trucks
- Insurance excess for all drivers over 20 years: NZ $1,500+GST
- Collision Damage Reduction NZ$15.00/day for excess reduced to NZ$500.00+GST
12 Seater Minibuses
- All 12 seater minibus hires require a credit card for our security bond
- Insurance excess for all drivers over 20 years: NZ $2,500+GST
- Collision Damage Reduction NZ $20.00/day for excess reduced to NZ $1000+GST
Bookings
We require a deposit of NZ $100.00 (or full rental amount if less than NZ $100.00) when we confirm a reservation. This deposit is non-refundable in the event of cancellation but is transferable to another rental within 12 months (if we are advised at least 24-hours before rental is due to commence).
Payment and Security Bond
Payment is to be made at the commencement of the hire by either cash, EFTPOS or debit/credit card. A NZ$500.00 bond is required for all hires and is refundable on completion of the hire. This may be either a cash deposit or signed credit card voucher (Visa debit cards are accepted and can be used for our bond payment of NZ$500.00). All 12-seat minibus hires require a credit card for our security bond.
Airport/Hotel Transfers
Auckland Airport
- Our on-airport branch is open for flights arriving between 7.00am-5.30pm, seven days a week.
- A free pick-up and drop-off from airport motels/hotels is also provided.
- An after hours service is available for NZ$40.00 on request.
- You can also use our key drop facility for vehicle return outside of hours.
- If you collect your vehicle at our airport branch, but wish to return it to our city branch, a fee of NZ$40.00 applies.
Auckland City
- Our downtown branch is open 8.00am-5.00pm, Monday to Friday; 8.30am - 4.00pm Saturday and Sunday.
- A free motel/hotel pick-up and drop-off is provided within the central city area.
- You can also use our key drop facility for vehicle return outside of hours.
- If you collect your vehicle at our city branch, but wish to return it to our airport branch, a fee of NZ$40.00 applies.
Palmerston North
- Pick-up and drop-off is direct from our agent depot in central Palmerston North less than 10 minutes (and approx. NZ$12.00) by taxi from the airport.
Christchurch
- Our airport branch is open for flights arriving between 8.00am - 5.30pm, seven days a week.
- Our courtesy shuttle will take you directly to our branch, which is less than 5 minutes drive from the airport.
- A free pick-up and drop-off from airport motels/hotels is also provided.
- An after hours service is available for NZ$40.00 on request.
- If you wish to leave your car at the airport outside of our opening hours, you can do so. A fee of NZ$30.00 applies.
Dunedin
- Our agent is open 7.30am - 5.30pm Monday to Friday and 8.00am - 5.00pm Saturday and Sunday.
- Free motel/hotel pick-up and drop-off within the central city area.
- Airport pick up shuttle service NZ$15.00; airport drop off shuttle service NZ$15.00.
Early Returns
Refunds are not usually granted for early returns and are only provided in exceptional circumstances and at the sole discretion of USAVE Management. We require 48-hours notice for any refund claim to be considered.
